We provide a list of therapists for your convenience. We do not endorse any of the individuals listed nor do we make any judgement about the appropriateness of any therapist for your particular needs.

Dr Garret O’Moore, Counselling Psychologist, SE London

Dr Garret O’Moore (2015 CORE Group) is a Counselling Psychologist Chartered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registered with the Health Care and Professions Council (HCPC). He has worked in a variety of clinical settings in the NHS as well as in private clinics. In addition to his clinical work, he acts as a visiting lecturer for the Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at City University London. Garret works in a private clinic in Greenwich, providing both brief and longer-term therapy to adults.

Alexandra Knowles, BSc (Hons) Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, Bristol

Alexandra Knowles BSc (Hons) (2006 core group) is a UKCP registered Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist through the Universities Psychotherapy & Counselling Association (UPCA) and an Honorary Member of FiP which she founded. She has been involved in the training & supervision of therapists and currently devotes her time to her ISTDP practice working with individuals & couples.

Patsy McGill, Psychotherapist (MSc MBACP), Derbyshire

Patsy McGill (2015 Core Group, 2018 Advanced group and current shadower (“Trainer in Training”) with Core Group 10 of ISTDP-UK).
She is a psychotherapist and Accredited Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including an IAPT service, Employee Assistance Programmes and private practice. She is fascinated to work within the attachment-based ISTDP framework, having seen the positive impact the related interventions can have on current interpersonal, health and psychological difficulties. She offers a warm and compassionate approach whilst naming unconscious beliefs and processes which contribute to distress, low mood and anxiety. Her aim in all treatment is to help challenge unhelpful and self-sabotaging dynamics and promote self-compassion, self-care and self-acceptance.
Face-to-face work is located in Derbyshire and remote treatment (via video) is also available.

Dr James Louis, Consultant Psychiatrist, Essex, Hertfordshire & Greater London

Dr James Louis is a Consultant Psychiatrist who has worked in the NHS for more than 15 years. He completed his core training in ISTDP with Josette ten Have-de Labije and Dr Robert Neborsky. He is also a qualified practitioner of Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy.
He specialises in working with adults with a range of complex difficulties and is also endorsed by the General Medical Council in the treatment and management of mental health problems associated with physical health issues. He provides training, consultation, and supervision to mental health professionals including trainee psychiatrists based both within and outside of the UK.
Dr Louis is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis. He is an Associate Trainer with ISTDP-UK and an Advanced Member the International Experiential Dynamic Therapy Association.

Catherine Colley

Catherine Colley, Psychotherapist (MCs MBACP), NW London

Catherine Colley (2014 Core Group 5), MSc Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, is registered and accredited by the BACP. She has several years’ experience of working in an NHS Psychological Outpatients Dept and in a University Students’ Counselling Service. Catherine has experience working with people from the media and arts world who suffer from performance anxiety, creative blocks and self doubt. Her aim is to enable her clients to reach their full creative potential.

Catherine has further advanced training in ISTDP and runs a private practice in Central London providing brief and longer term therapy to adults.

Dr Javier Malda Castillo, Clinical Psychologist, Liverpool

Dr Javier Malda Castillo (DClinPsych) is a chartered Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.  He is an accredited MBT therapist by the Anna Freud Centre, a Group Analytic Practitioner and associate member of the Institute of Group Analysis (IGA) and completed psychodynamic psychotherapy (D58) training in the Tavistock Clinic.

His ISTDP journey started in Core 8 under the supervision of Dr Sharon Lewis, Dr Neborsky and Alexandra Knowles. Since then, his work integrates ISTDP, attachment theory as well as independent school psychoanalytic principles. He has a particular interest in working with adults who have experienced complex trauma as well as medically unexplained symptoms.

Antony Malvasi, Counselling Psychologist, West London

Antony Malvasi is an experienced Counselling Psychologist registered with the BPS and HCPC. He completed his ISTDP core training in 2019. He is currently working as a psychologist, manager and supervisor in the NHS specialising in addictions. He has experience in treating a broad array of emotion related problems including mood disorders, relationship difficulties, trauma and personality disorders. He was a Yoga teacher for 10 years and has a special interest in the mind/body connection and applying ISTDP to addictions. Heather McCartney, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, Cheltenham & Cornwall

Heather McCartney is a highly experienced psychoanalytic psychotherapist who trained originally in the British Jungian tradition (BPC/WMIP). She completed Core Training with ISTDP UK in 2020 and offers ISTDP in private practice both online and face to face in Cheltenham and Cornwall. She is undertaking advanced training with ISTDP-UK and with Josette Ten Have-de Labije in Berlin, and is widely involved in professional development in the broader ISTDP field.

Dr John Moulder-Brown, Counselling Psychologist, Central London

Dr John Moulder-Brown (2015 Core Group) is a Counselling Psychologist registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Julie Beckett, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, Bristol & the South West

Julie Beckett (Core group 5) is a registered psychoanalytic psychotherapist and a member of FIP.

After training as an actress at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, she focused her attention on what emotional drivers lead to psychological distress, qualifying as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist at The Severnside Institute of Psychotherapy. She went on to complete the three-year Core training in ISTDP, as well as a further two years in advanced ISTDP training.

She runs a private practice in central Bristol offering therapy in a flexible way that fits in, as far as possible, with the needs of her patients.

Dr. Leo Russell, Clinical Psychologist, DClinPsych, Exeter

Dr. Leo Russell is a Clinical Psychologist registered with the health professions council. He works for the NHS in community adult mental health. Ofra (MA) is a UKCP registered Psychotherapist and ISTDP Practitioner. She is a UKCP Listed Supervisor. She has over 25 years’ experience working as a psychotherapist with individuals and couples. In addition to her practice, her work included: nearly 20 years teaching, training and group facilitating in a private Psychotherapy School in North London. She was a member of UKCP Board of Directors for 3 years and a UKCP/HIPC Chair of Assessment Board for almost 10 years. Dr Seh Rho, Counselling Psychologist, central London

Dr Seh Rho is a Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. Dr Anthony Wharton, Clinical Psychologist, Plymouth

Dr Anthony Wharton is a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. Dr Wharton works in a rural NHS community adult mental health team in Devon and in a systemic family therapy service, part-time. Dr Lorraine Haye, Clinical Psychologist, North West England

Lorraine is registered with the health and care professions council (HCPC) and currently training in ISTDP. She has an interest in trauma, physical health, attachment and neuropsychology. Emily Hill, Psychologist, Cardiff

Emily qualified as a psychologist in 2011. Since this time, she has worked in independent inpatient mental health care with individuals with depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, psychosis, trauma, substance misuse, and those with difficulties with relationships and self-harm. Emily went on to work in New Zealand, where she supported individuals who had been convicted of various offences, and who had difficulties arising from childhood trauma and adversity. After returning to the UK in 2015 Emily joined the NHS. Emily has experience in using CBT, Schema Therapy and Mentalisation Based informed approaches to her therapy work, before beginning her training in ISTDP in January 2021.

Dr Rob Stamatakis, Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist, Wales

Rob qualified as a medical doctor in 2002 and is a Consultant Psychiatrist in the NHS. He is regulated by the General Medical Council and a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and has 15 years’ experience of working with adults across a range of emotional and psychological experiences.

Areas of specialist experience include anxiety, low mood, anger and aggression, and personality and interpersonal difficulties. Rob offers online sessions lasting 50 minutes, initially for six sessions. Sessions would, with agreement, be recorded for training and supervision purposes and in accordance with confidentiality and information governance safeguards.
