About ISTDP-UK

David & Jennie Malan have been instrumental in introducing ISTDP to the U.K.  In 2006 and 2008 they arranged conferences in Oxford, where highly experienced clinicians at the forefront of ISTDP internationally presented video recordings of their work.

Following the first Oxford Conference, in 2006, an initial training in ISTDP was initiated.  This 2006 core group was led for the first 18 months by Patricia Coughlin and subsequently by Jon Frederickson, MSW and Dr Robert Neborsky MD.

In 2008, members of this core group formed an organisation, ISTDP-UK.  The development of this organisation reflects the enthusiasm of UK practitioners about the practise of such a dynamic, revolutionary, method of psychotherapy. Both therapeutically effective and cost effective, we intend to ensure that ISTDP becomes more widely available throughout the UK.

The aims of this organisation are to promote the practice of ISTDP in the UK through providing access to information, linking to international ISTDP bodies, supporting future core training programmes and through organisation of seminars and conferences in the UK.

The founding members of ISTDP-UK comprise senior clinicians and psychotherapists.
